Mpho
University of Johannesburg
My name is Mpho, I am 22 years old and I am a qualified Logistics Manager. I was born at Dzwerani, a small village in Limpopo near Thohoyandou and my family and I later moved to a small township in Gauteng that is known as ‘Tshepisong’, and this is where I was raised, along with my brother. I matriculated from SG Mafaesa Senior Secondary school at the year 2016. In 2018 I was enrolled at the University of Johannesburg to study Bachelor of Commerce in Logistics Management.
My main interests are, cooking, travelling and community engagement. My first love is cooking; I enjoy trying out new recipes or I would rather say that cooking is therapeutic for me. I enjoy travelling the world for new adventures such as hiking, catching a movie, going to a theme park, water parks and going to explore different kind of foods from different kinds of restaurants. My interest in community engagement was sparked by my passion of helping others. During my first year at the university I volunteered to be a peer mentor and that enabled me to help first year’s students to adjust into varsity life, it was my duty to ensure that they were doing well academically, socially and emotionally. I was also part of the varsity’s soup kitchen where I would normally help out with washing the dishes, cleaning the kitchen and dish food for the students. I have also volunteered to tutor grade 11 and grade 12 learner with subjects such as physical sciences. Mathematics, and life sciences. Currently I am helping out at the community crèche by
helping children learn how to read and write, cleaning, and cooking.
In the future I want to see myself excelling in my career, being in more managerial positions and or in charge of bigger projects but currently I just seek to find a place of employment where I can showcase my skills and apply my theoretical learnings from the university in the practical working environment. I aspire to venture into entrepreneurial activities such as agriculture, beauty and entertainment to name a few.
I matriculated from SG Mafaesa Senior Secondary School year 2016 with a total APS score of 44 including Life Orientation. In 2018 I was admitted at the University of Johannesburg to study Bachelor of Commerce in Logistics Management as an ‘orange carpet’ student. This meant that I was awarded a UJ merit bursary to pay for up to 50 percent of my fees. I then graduated record time in 2020 with a total average of 74% in my 3rd and final year and I am currently admitted to do my honors at the University of Johannesburg for the year 2022. I have a digital literacy certificate that I obtained from completing a Microsoft digital literacy course online. I also have two TRREE certificate on Research ethics and Informed concern from the University of Hong Kong after completing an online course from the website.
